'“In my opinion, the nerine represents an enhancement to the horticultural sector as a whole. As a florist, I’m always on the lookout for something special to surprise my customers with, and nerines are the perfect solution. The unusual shape of their flowers makes them unique, and they are ideal for using in creative and distinctive displays.

That’s why I use nerines in all sorts of arrangements, from wedding bouquets to mixed bouquets. But when combined with a bit of greenery, nerines of a single colour can look striking in a plain bouquet too!

The fact that nerines are not available all year round is both an advantage and a disadvantage. The disadvantage is that I have to disappoint those customers who request nerines out of season. Meanwhile, the advantage is that they retain a sense of exclusivity and a high attention value – customers certainly notice them whenever they are in stock!

Every week, I supply between 150 and 200 vases of flowers to companies on a contractual basis. Whenever I use nerines in my arrangements, I’m guaranteed to receive lots of positive reactions. 'What an unusual, and beautiful, flower – I’ve never seen one of those before! What is it?' is probably the most common response. The fact that they explicitly ask me about the nerine speaks volumes about the effect this gorgeous flower has on most people.”
